October Newsletter 2023

In October we see pink ribbons everywhere, from grocery stores to our favorite football teams, people are uniting to fight breast cancer. Ever thought…why? Here are some reasons why it might matter to you.

ACCORDING TO AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY:

  • In 2022, Breast cancer accounted for nearly one-third of all cancer cases in women.
  • About 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • Female breast cancer incidence rates "have been slowly increasing by about 0.5% per year since the mid-2000s, attributed at least in part to continued declines in the fertility rate and increases in excess body weight."

At the OAC we have seen these statistics hold true within our walls and we wanted to do something to help. We have teamed up with the Huntsman Cancer Institute and are excited to raise money in honor of all the members of the Ogden Athletic Club who have been affected by breast cancer. Our mission is to raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research at HCI, with the ultimate goal of eradicating cancer from the earth. We have all been touched by cancer and we are making the commitment to bring hope to patients and their families through this event. Please consider helping us reach our goal by donating through the link above – 100% of every donation is being used to fuel research at HCI. Because of you, others can continue to have hope in their fight against cancer.

What's a fundraiser without a party? We invite you (and your friends) to join us for an unstoppable week of pink! Starting Monday, October 2nd we have highlighted "launch" classes throughout the week featuring new workouts, music, and moves. In every highlighted class you will receive a bracelet to show your support for Breast Cancer awareness. Instead of additional prizes for this launch, we encourage all who can to donate to our cause (see above). And don't forget to WEAR PINK!

Can you believe it's been 5 years since 4300 Strength & Conditioning started at OAC? We can't either! The coaches at 4300'SC are invested and dedicated to each individual's success inside and outside of the gym and welcome ALL fitness levels to their classes. Each workout is modified and individualized to each person's fitness and experience level. Each class is only an hour long to get you in and out of the gym and include various modalities such as weightlifting, high and low intensity workouts, functional body weight movements, and mobility to help increase functional strength and elevate your quality of living to its highest potential. Over the last 5 years the members of 4300 have also formed a tight-knit community to help keep you accountable and motivated on your low days! They can't wait for you to come try the program and become part of the group!

Testimonials:
"I joined 4300 because I needed to be pushed harder and more consistently. I enjoy all the different movements and different types of workouts. I've learned that the workouts are what you make of them. Some days I can push harder than other days, and some days I'm happy I was able to show up! Advice I would give? Give it one class! It could change your life. It is not as crazy as people think. You aren't expected to know every movement. The coaches will help you! We will help you! It's about learning, growing, and getting better everyday!"
-Tanya T., 41

"I love being a member of the 4300' Strength & Conditioning program. As I age, I realize the importance of keeping my muscles and bones healthy and strong. I also enjoy the program for my mental health. I feel a sense of belonging and have made life-long friends. It's nice knowing I have a network of support."
